Description
The story
The brulotto was a fire ship: a vessel loaded with incendiary material, steered towards enemy ships and set off at the decisive moment. Used since the time of the Crusades, it was widely employed by the Venetians in the Holy Land and remained a feared weapon until the arrival of iron-keeled ships.
Handling it demanded skill and courage. The Merlot that bears its name comes from Rocca Bernarda, from “ponca” soils.
A soft red with rounded tannins and good persistence. Temperature-controlled maceration, aged in steel and wood.
